Description
The Owain Glyndŵr Figure: A Lewis Chessmen Tribute:
Own a piece of Welsh history inspired by the iconic medieval Lewis chessmen. This unique figure commemorates Owain Glyndŵr (c. 1354–c. 1415), the last native-born Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales and a potent symbol of Welsh pride and independence.
The Man and the Myth
Owain Glyndŵr was a respected leader and military commander who, in 1400, launched a major 15-year revolt against the English crown to secure Welsh independence. Known for his fierce determination and a touch of the mystical in Welsh lore, his legacy straddles the line between history and legend. He was never captured or betrayed, and the exact details of his death remain a mystery, adding to his enduring mythical status as the potential “Son of Prophecy” who might one day return to liberate his people.
