Description
Saint Etheldreda was also known as Aethelthryth or simply Audrey.
She was the daughter of King Anna during the Anglo-Saxon times in Britain.
She was married to Prince Tonbertch and later to King Ecgfrith of Northumbria.
This marriage collapsed and she fled to The Isle of Ely, where she founded a monastery which later became the Fabulous Cathedral of Ely.
She probably ate Eels.
Her death was caused by a throat complaint which she attributed to wearing fancy necklaces when she was a young princess.
The Ethlereda figure is around 8cm tall and incorporates elements of the cathedral and her personal symbols, the book, and Lilly.
The original figure was sculpted out of clay by Nick Hunter.
A mold was then taken and we hand-finish the poly resin figures.
