Stanwick Horse Replica – Hand-Cast Iron Age Art

Own a piece of ancient British history. This stunning wall-hanging or display piece is a meticulous replica of the famous Stanwick Horse Head, originally discovered in North Yorkshire in 1845. Part of a high-status hoard belonging to the Brigantes tribe and is thought to date back to around 50BC to 100AD. This stylized mask was likely a ritual decoration for a ceremonial feasting bucket.
We first saw the original Horses Head around 20 years ago in a book on art in the Iron Age.
In 2023 whilst on a research trip we found a replica in the museum in York. The original is in the British museum. We were so smitten with the Horse Head we commisioned a sculpter to create a larger replica for us. We are big fans of the British Iron Age art style.
Each piece is cold-cast by hand using poly-resin impregnated with genuine ground bronze.
We hand-polish to a high-shine bronze luster, capturing the “doleful” charm and flared nostrils of the original.
We have scaled images of the original in the the British Museum original to create our version which was developed from a custom-commissioned sculpture to ensure every curve feels authentic.

Dimensions: 17cm (H) x 7.5cm (W).
We have mounted a saw tooth hanger on the reverse, so it can be displayed on any wall with minimum work.

We make all our pieces in our craft unit in West Wales, located at the base of the Cambrian Mountains.
Where possible we recycle and reuse wrapping and packing.
